Blue Ollie (http://blueollie.wordpress.com/2008/07/22/videos-speedwalking-and-mr-t-and-darrow-vs-bryan/) pointed this one out to me. I think I am going to have to boycott Snickers. I very rarely eat them, but I do buy them for my piano students. Not any more...

Here is what is interesting: Mike DeWitt (the Wisconsin Parkside coach) loves snickers bars.
I wonder what he thinks of this commercial.
That was way too funny, but kind of insulting . I can only imagine what people must think when I'm sashaying down the street.
(I played that clip back in slo-mo, and actually that guys form wasn't all that bad.)
Personally , I prefer the Mars bar.
Hi Tammy, the computer I am on is too slow to watch the clip. I'll try to catch it when I'm on a faster connection. If you want to read a little about my story, go to Prevention.com and look up my fitness success story. They did an ok job (isn't strange to read about yourself in someone else's words?) Another story out there on the web is on a site called livingwithtrisomy.org (I think...) I will try to get you that link if you are interested.
Good luck with your 10k on Thursday. I can't wait to read about it!

Rebecca, thanks for your stories. I found both of them and was touched by your daughter's short life. I am inspired by your determination to get in shape, and your weight loss story is terrific! You look fabulous now :)! From time to time I do blog about food issues as well as racewalking, so stay tuned.
Hey Tammy,
I just found the following on an AdAge e-mail newsletter. Did you see this?

WALK! Magazine

What was probably more surprising was the diversity and reach of the outrage. Not only did liberal blogs or blogs maintained by gay men balk, but so did a blogger known only as Tammy, a self-described "amateur racewalker." She posted the video with a headline that read in part "Pathetic Ignorance" and followed with this mini diatribe: "I think I am going to have to boycott Snickers. I very rarely eat them, but I do buy them for my piano students. Not anymore."
