Hopped on the stationary bike and did a good hard 35 min while reading my favorite magazine, Runner's World. Yeah, I know, it's a running magazine, but most of the articles (all except the shoe reviews) are very applicable to racewalking training. A fun read each month.
My friend Lisa met me at the gym for some weight training. We have been taking a class but now we're going to go it on our own, after 5 years of taking the classes. The equipment is nicer at Steiner, and we can meet any time we please.
I did the following exercises: chest press w/machine/hip abductors with cybex machine (superset 1); hamstring one-legged dead lifts/rowing machine (superset 2); shoulder press/heel raises (superset 3); windmills/balance L foot on dyna disk and bounce ball/lunges with foot on dyna disk (superset 4 - PT exercises for foot); bicep curls and tricep extensions (skull-crushers)(superset 5). Then we did abs: crunches on ball, knee-to-chest crunches on mat, plank for 2 minutes, back extensions on ball, oblique crunches on ball (on each side), toe-touchers with 10 lb weight (on mat, with legs sticking up straight in air).
Good workout!
