Our first ER visit

Well, had to happen sooner or later. Turns out it was sooner. Calvin managed to fall on our stone fireplace and bang his front tooth so hard that it was very loose and bleeding. After calling what seemed like endless dentists at 4 pm on Friday, no one was available so off to the ER we went. The people at Primary Children's were great. I was freaking out - my baby was bleeding and his tooth was loose and it looked awful. I felt so horrible. I was glad Loren was home sick from work, so he could help out, since I was not in a good state of mind. At the hospital, we got into a room and the nurse saw us, and while we were waiting for the doctor the tooth fell out. Loren quickly whisked it out of Calvin's mouth before he could swallow or aspirate it, and we got a little tooth box to put it in from a nurse who happens to attend our church. Calvin was in a fair amount of pain, but slept fine last night after some Tylenol. Today he was pretty good, although a bit fussy in the morning.

Tonight we got a babysitter, since Calvin seemed to be doing fine, and we went to a performance of Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Mikado" at Deer Valley. It was wonderful to have a night out and the performance was cleverly current (they added some 21st century verbiage to some of the songs) and very funny. We sat on the lawn and brought a picnic from Tony Caputo's deli along with a bottle of wine. It was great!
